How do I set up Google Verification so I can use Google Analytics for Flavors?

Flavors currently support basic Google Analytics tracking code verification. Simply enter your verification code in the designated section in your "Account Statistics":

If you are experiencing problems verifying your analytics code get in contact and we will be happy to help.

    This isn't working for me - I have my own domain xxx.com set up in webmaster tools and analytics, but I can't seem to verify flavors.me/xxx.  I thought I would need both and then I was going to set up cross domain tracking.  I feel stuck now though.  What do I need to next? None of the verification methods seem to work for me.  I can't add code or upload files to flavors.me and my domain server does not own flavors.me - what method if any should I be using?

    Sorry about the delayed response - please see the above amendments:

    If you are experiencing problems verifying your analytics code, please note that Google Analytics has launched a new tracking tool called Universal Analytics, which might be why your code is not working. I'm afraid we only support standard Google Analytics so please try to retrieve the basic verification tools and try again.

    For those in the same case, by digging around on Internet I have found that this tracking code is working and detected by Flavors.me. But it would be nice to update your code ;;-)

    <script type="text/javascript">

    var _gaq = _gaq || [];
    _gaq.push(['_setAccount', 'UA-43838246-1']);
    _gaq.push(['_trackPageview']);

    (function() {
    var ga = document.createElement('script'); ga.type = 'text/javascript'; ga.async = true;
    ga.src = ('https:' == document.location.protocol ? 'https://ssl' : 'http://www') + '.google-analytics.com/ga.js';
    var s = document.getElementsByTagName('script')[0]; s.parentNode.insertBefore(ga, s);
    })();

    </script>

    Glad you got that working. You can indicate you wish your property to use 'Classic' Google Analytics during the property creation process on Google, as seen here:

    As Universal Analytics is still a beta product, its features and API may change. Flavors currently only supports Classic Analytics.

    I understand that for Google analytics I need to use classic version.  I have already set up the account.  Do I have to delete and re- set it up using classic... or is there a way just to switch over?

    There is no way to convert a property view from Universal to Classic. You don't need to delete your account, just delete the view, as seen here:

    step_1.png

    ------------------------------

    step_2.png

    Once the view is deleted, create a new property, this time selecting Classic Analytics using the steps provided earlier in this thread.

    I tried to embed my external embed code from Google (using the Classic Analytics) but I only get this error message: "Could not find Clicky, Google or Lijit embed codes." I'm just copy and pasting the code directly into the field and selecting Save, but getting nothing. I can't use Google Webmaster Tools because I can't verify the site - the verification code says it saves, but then doesn't seem to be linking to anything. Any insight?

    @derekfoxy- I am sorry to hear you are having issues embedding your code from Google.  It sounds as though there might be an issue/ error with the code you are using.  Can you send me a copy of the code so that I can investigate further?

    I am trying to do all you say above, and I cannot get the Classic mode. It seems like Google changed the settings. I only see "website" which provides the new Universal Analytics or a Mobile option. It seems like they have forced us all to upgrade to the new Universal code and can't get the classic anymore because when I go through this page, I get the Universal Tracking code, which doesn't work. I have been searching for hours. I can't get the Webmaster Tools  way to work either.

    HELP PLEASE?

    @urbanretro I am very sorry to hear that. Universal Analytics is now accepted on Flavors and should work for you now. If you are having troubles with the Universal code, please send us an email using the Contact us link on the left, containing your Universal Analytics code and Flavors username and we can look into this for you.

    Thanks for your response! It wasn't working at first….didn't work/sync for a day or so. But now the new universal code is working. Thank you!
